If you're a true blue Rangers fan, you're going to want to clear your calendar for Friday evening and head for Rangers Ballpark.

That's when the City of Arlington and the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau are teaming up to host Let's GLO Rangers, a blowout fan rally celebrating your favorite team's 40th anniversary in Arlington.

Beginning at 6 p.m., the first 4,000 fans on site will receive blue glow sticks and get the chance to participate in a one-of-a-kind glow stick rally. Fans will move into formation to spell out R-A-N-G-E-R-S in giant illuminated letters. The event will be captured via aerial photography by a helicopter for a Let's GLO Rangers video which will premiere on the Rangers Ballpark JumboTron on Opening Day, April 6 when the team faces Chicago.

The fan rally could make history in a number of ways: Besides celebrating the Rangers' milestone anniversary, the event's also an attempt into the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest number of people ever gathered to spell out a team name with glow sticks.

Admission is free and there are no age restrictions for participation. A DJ will be on hand to keep the crowd revved up for the big event, and Rangers Captain, the team's mascot, is scheduled to make an appearance.

"This is going to be so much fun for Rangers fans," said Rebecca Rodriguez, marketing and communications manager for the City of Arlington. "The Texas Rangers story is forever part of Arlington's story. Our Rangers pride runs deep and it has for forty years. We can't imagine a better way to start another great season of baseball in Arlington."

"The pride and excitement of Rangers fans in Arlington is always electrifying," said Decima Cooper, Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau director of public relations. "We wanted to give them a chance to show it on a grand scale!"

The Texas Rangers, the current American League champions and 2010-2011 World Series contenders, debuted at Arlington Stadium in the spring of 1972. The 2012 season will kick off with a match against the Chicago White Sox on April 6.
