Do you know how to properly install a car seat? Seventy-five percent of the parents do not. Check out this video to see how.

Each morning Deputy Court Clerk Nancy Marshall checks to see if her two-year-old's car seat is installed properly. That way her little one can enjoy a safe ride.

The young mother knows a thing or two about installing a child car seat correctly-she recently received her certification to be a child passenger safety technician. She inspects car seats for motorists who receive citations related to improper use of car seats.

Marshall also manages a grant - valued at just over $8,000 - received by the municipal court in April from the Texas Department of Safety to help provide instruction on how to use children's car seats. The instruction is for motorists who receive citations related to improper use of car seats.

The grant- valued just over $8,000- was used to purchase 75 booster seats defendants unable to afford one. Lower income families are also eligible to participate. Mission Arlington and area elementary schools are referring people to this unique program.

Arlington is the only city in Texas offering a booster seat program. If you are interested in applying for a booster seat, email [email protected].
