German Sister City’s Gift to be Presented to AISD Classrooms

When: Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at 10 a.m.

Where: Martin High School (4501 W. Pleasant Ridge Rd.), Classroom # 174

Members of the Arlington Sister Cities Committee presented a gift of 19 German-English dictionaries for the AISD German classrooms. The presentation took place in the classroom of German teacher Gay Ogden, and the dictionaries were distributed to all five German classrooms, three at Martin High School, one at Lamar and one at Arlington High School.

The dictionaries were purchased locally with money sent to Sister Cities Committee members Gerhard and Martha Liehsel by Mayor Behr of Arlington's German Sister City, Bad Koenigshofen. The money was sent as a gift from Mayor Behr and the members of the 28-member delegation from Bad Koenigshofen that visited Arlington in October 2001 on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Sister Cities friendship. The delegation decided to do something special for the young people of Arlington learning German and asked that dictionaries be purchased with the money.
