Center Street Bridge Construction

Arlington drivers should be aware of scheduled lane closures for the I-20 Center Street Bridge Project next week.

Starting on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at midnight, the westbound frontage road from Collins Street to just west of Center Street, will be closed so the contractor can pour the bridge deck.

The lanes will reopen by 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18. The I-20 entrance ramp just west of Collins Street and the I-20 exit ramp west of Center Street will remain open.

TxDOT will install Dynamic Message Sign (DMS) boards on I-20 and Embarcadero Drive to notify residents about the closure. The City will install sign boards along Matlock Road and Collins Street regarding the upcoming closures.

The project, constructed in coordination with the City of Arlington, will improve mobility, safety and connectivity, consists of building a six-lane bridge with a sidewalk from the existing Center Street north of I-20 and extending south to Bardin Road. The project is estimated for completion by late 2016.

TxDOT appreciates the patience of motorists, and encourages attention to all warning signs within the construction work zone while crews work diligently to complete this project as quickly and as safely as possible. You can see all Texas road conditions by visiting: www.drivetexas.org.
