Arlington Urban Ministries' Mobile Food Pantry (MFP) served their one millionth pound of food to families in need on Wednesday, July 1.

The MFP, along with state and local officials, served the celebratory millionth pound at Wesley United Methodist Church in Arlington.

"We serve the community because it is our calling." Arlington Urban Ministries volunteer Don Henderson said. "Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty one family at a time."

Arlington Urban Ministries (AUM) is a faith-based organization providing emergency assistance for utilities, rent and food for those in crisis in the Arlington community.

The Mobile Food Pantry, created in partnership with Tarrant Area Food Bank and AUM, helps to alleviate food insecurity throughout Arlington.

Since the inception of Mobile Food Pantry, Arlington Urban Ministries has distributed food to more than 22,300 households and nearly 87,000 people.

AUM helps 600 families combat food insecurity each month.
