The City of Arlington's Public Works and Transportation Department has announced closures related to construction for the New York Avenue Rebuild Project starting next Monday, December 12, 2016.

This project will result in the closure of the south bound lanes along New York Avenue from Park Row Drive to Arkansas Lane. Only the north bound lanes will remain open and the duration of this closure is approximately six months.

The nearly $12 million project, expected to be complete by July 2018, will include new water and sanitary sewer lines, paving, drainage improvements, as well as sidewalk and curb ramp improvements.

Landscape and streetscape improvements planned for this section of New York Avenue include tree plantings, benches and trash receptacles, pedestrian lighting and stamped concrete and pavers at intersections.
