The City of Arlington's Kindness Initiative continues to grow thanks to the generous hearts of the community's children.

To recognize youth who are spreading kindness throughout The American Dream City, the City's Community Relations Commission has launched a new program with the help of local businesses to reward participating students. Thanks to a partnership with the Texas Rangers, some school-age children will receive free premium baseball tickets and free tours of Globe Life Park in Arlington.

During a pep rally Friday at Pearcy Elementary, the City and the Texas Rangers surprised two students with a pair of Rangers tickets each and then announced that a Kindergarten class would get a special tour of the ballpark because of the acts of kindness they had performed during the school year. Pearcy Elementary was chosen as the first school to be recognized because of its existing "Choose Kind" campaign.

"The word is out that Pearcy is the place to be if want to run into kind people and kind children," Community Relations Chair Dr. Von Peaks said.

Student Misael Ceja was pleasantly surprised to be recognized by the Community Relations Commission.

"I never expected I would win. There's a lot of students in here and a lot of them are amazing. This is a kindness zone. We're all kind," Ceja said.

The other winner, Aisha Mohamed, said it makes a person feel good inside to be kind to others.

"Kindness pays," Mohamed said.
