Located in the heart of Downtown Arlington, South Street Art Festival is a major part of maintaining an exciting art scene in the downtown district! The South Street Art Festival is a free three-day art festival from September 25-27, 2015 that will feature up to 75 artists from across the country, and 10 prominent local bands. The DREAM sculpture will also be unveiled at the festival this Friday night at 7 p.m. The 54-foot long, 12-foot tall metal sculpture becomes the first public art project of its kind in Downtown Arlington. Festival hours: Friday September 25: 4pm-9pm, Saturday September 26: 10am-9pm, Sunday September 27: 11am-4pm. You can take a look at thefestival map as well. Four new fright zones and terrifying attractions will be open to fear-seekers in The American Dream City this weekend at Six Flags Over Texas! Fright Fest Presented by Snickers begins Saturday, September 26, and continues each weekend throughout the month of October until November 1, 2015. Once the clock strikes 7 pm, Fright by Night takes total control of the park. The ghastly ghosts, zombies, and supernatural beings come alive to haunt the park's midways in six free Fright Zones. While Fright by Night may be too intense for young children, Thrills by Day offers entertainment and fun the whole family can enjoy. The Arkansas–Texas A&M football rivalry is a college football rivalry that started more than 100 years ago in 1903! The teams will face off on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 6 p.m. right here in Arlington at AT&T Stadium. For those who can't make it, the game will also be nationally televised on ESPN. Texas A&M enters Saturday night's match-up as the favorite, with a 3-0 start to the season and a #14 national ranking in the polls. Arkansas is looking to move to .500 with a win and improve to 2-2 on the young season. Last season, it took overtime for the Texas A&M Aggies to defeat the Arkansas Razorbacks, with a final score of 35-28. Great music will fill this air this weekend as the Green Mountain Energy's 2015 Fall Concert Series continues at Levitt Pavilion Arlington in Downtown Arlington! This special UT Arlington weekend at the Levitt features a line-up that includes Luke Wade performing on Friday, September 25, UT Arlington Wind Symphony on Saturday and Sunday it's the UT Arlington Jazz Orchestra, who will be joined by jazz masters Stefan Karlsson and Magnus Broo. Dogs Days at the South Branch Library is a unique program that brings trained therapy dogs and their owners into the library. This program was created to provide a safe and pressure free zone for children to practice their reading skills. Children ages 5 and up are welcomed to come read to a patient dog for 15 minutes. This event takes place on Saturday, September 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. There is no online registration but participants should come early and sign up for a time slot.
Visit the "Rock and Roll Wall of Fame" installation at the Arlington Museum of Art this weekend to experience three exhibits that focus on a socially, culturally, and politically influential publication still in print today, a music hub that helped reshape the canvas of rock and roll in the 1970s, '80s, and '90s, and the talented musicians that Austin, Texas has encouraged and produced over the years. Theatre Arlington Presents "Hello Dolly!"
Theatre Arlington's first show of its new season continues this weekend in The American Dream City! Performances are Thursday night at 7:30, Friday and Saturday night at 8 p.m. and then a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. "Hello Dolly!" features Persis Ann Forster (you can watch her mother's American Dream story by clicking here) as the incomparable iconic matchmaker, Dolly Gallagher Levi.
