Linebarger Goggan partners Charles Brady, Glenn Smith and Steven Meeks presented a $50,000 donation to Mayor Jeff Williams, Libraries Director Yoko Matsumoto and Libraries Development Coordinator Andi Davis on Monday, February 6, 2017.

Featuring state-of-the-art technology, the future George W. Hawkes Downtown Library will provide invaluable experiences, services and learning opportunities to residents of all ages.

Supporting quality education for the community was one of primary reasons partners at Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson chose this year to contribute $50,000 toward the $30 million library project. The three-story, 80,000-square-foot library is set to open north of Arlington City Hall in June 2018.

"My high school was not the high school of today," said Partner Steve Meeks on the importance of technology in education. "These young people are going to govern this city and this country in the future and they need to have every tool available to help them in all aspects of life. The library will be one of those tools, with state-of-the art technology that will allow them to gain knowledge and experience and keep up with the world around them."

The firm's donation will help create a large, dedicated area for teens that will include ample space for library materials, a study lounge, computing space, small group study rooms and a digital creativity lab with a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) focus. The space will also provide an environment where teens can find opportunities for service learning, mentoring and peer interaction.

Linebarger Goggan partners Charles Brady and Glenn Smith, along with Meeks, presented the donation to Mayor Jeff Williams, Libraries Director Yoko Matsumoto and Libraries Development Coordinator Andi Davis on Monday, February 6.

Meeks said Linebarger Goggan is pleased to help support Arlington's innovative library, whose features will include nearly 140 computers and mobile devices, community meeting spaces, and spaces for children and teens that are conducive to learning and creating.
