Health Services, within Planning and Development Services, performs plan review and permitting services for all public, semi-public pools, spas, and public interactive water features (PIWF).

Code Compliance inspects all public, semi-public pools, spas, and PIWFs to ensure continued operational compliance with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Rules for Public Pools and Spas and the City's Public Pool and Spa Ordinance. Swimming pool barriers/enclosures are designed to keep small children and unauthorized users out of the body of water in an effort to prevent accidental drowning. Annual inspections of the pool gates and pool yard enclosure are conducted by Code Compliance to ensure that this critical safety feature is maintained.
