The Redistricting Task Force is created to assist with advising the City Council on matters related to modifying single-member city council district boundaries in response to the 2020 U.S. Census. The Redistricting Task Force will receive a legal briefing on the laws applicable to Redistricting; study and discuss the current district configurations; receive input from the community; prepare recommendations on criteria and guidelines for submission of plans for the City Council’s consideration; and forward a recommended plan for the City Council’s consideration. The Redistricting Task Force’s scope of work does not include formulating recommendations regarding possible home rule charter amendments. There shall be nine members of the Redistricting Task Force. The City Council shall appoint the Redistricting Task Force with each City Council Member nominating a member and the Mayor nominating the chairperson. Members of the Redistricting Task Force shall serve in a temporary advisory capacity and shall work with staff to formulate recommendations for the City Council. The Redistricting Task Force shall expire upon the completion of its advisory work and the transmission of its recommendations to the City Council, subject to the call of the City Council.
