The news organization ranked UTA the number one four-year school in Texas for veterans and number seven in the country. The university has the highest military and veteran enrollment rate and the highest military graduation rate in the top ten list.

When you see the list of military and veteran services offered at UTA, you understand why the school performs so well in the rankings.

1. Veterans Center

UTA offers a Veterans Center, giving students and families access to everything they need, in one place.

2. Veterans Upward Bound Program

The orientation program is one of only 49 at universities across the country. It is designed to address the unique needs of veterans returning to their educational dreams, either during or after their military service.

3. Career Development Paths

The Lockheed Martin Career Development Center offers veteran-specific training and support. It also connects students with employers looking to hire veterans.

4. Accessible Information

UTA has created a custom website just for veterans, letting them know of all the available services.

5. Built-in Support System

The Maverick Veterans (MavVets) is UTA's Student Veterans of America Chapter, providing a sense of community and access to new opportunities to all student veterans.

6. Graduation Celebration

Veterans are given a special cord to wear at graduation, in appreciation of their service.

“We are privileged to be able to serve our veterans and their families. They represent a spirit and passion to which we aspire. They served our nation with distinction, and are now serving as role models on campus showing the importance of commitment, dedication, and honor, and reminding us every day, through their presence, of the responsibility that each of us bears to protect our nation and its freedoms, and to work to make this country and the world a better place,” UTA President Vistasp Karbhari said. “Their success is due to their drive and hard work, as well as the tremendous efforts made by our talented and dedicated faculty and staff who are committed to enhancing levels of student success across our university. I’m extremely thankful for, and proud of, the work that they are doing.”
