With more families looking for ways to spend time outdoors, Texas Parks & Wildlife has a great way to enjoy nature while benefiting researchers across the state.

The agency has partnered with Texas Master Naturalists and the Audubon Society for the Texas City Nature Challenge. Families are encouraged to download the iNaturalist app (available for Apple and Android devices) and head outside April 24-27, 2020. Once you’re in the app, take a picture of a plant or animal, and community members will identify the species. Please remember to practice social distancing if you go exploring outside your home.

Knowing what species are found in Texas helps conservationists better protect the environment and manage green space. According to iNaturalist, more than 3,800 species have been observed in Arlington.

Add to the list knowing people across Texas and around the world are exploring nature alongside you.
