Learn More About South Collins Street Improvements at Aug. 21 Public Meeting

Public Meeting Notice 

The City of Arlington’s Public Works and Transportation Department anticipates starting an 18-month long roadway and infrastructure improvement project on South Collins Street between Park Row Drive and Pioneer Parkway in September 2019.

This project consists of reconstructing the north and southbound outer lanes and replacing failed concrete panels in the inner three lanes of Collins Street. In addition to the roadway improvement, the project will also include the following:

• Storm drain system
• Water and Sanitary Sewer Lines
• Sidewalks
• New traffic signals, streetlights, street signs, and pavement markings
• Underground City fiber conduit

Residents are encouraged to attend a construction briefing meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, in the Blanton Elementary School cafeteria, located at 1900 S. Collins St. This will be an open house, come-and-go meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to provide information and answer questions residents may have concerning the proposed construction.

Funding for this project was approved by Arlington voters as part of the $160 million street improvements package in the 2014 Bond Election and aligns with the City Council’s priorities to Enhance Regional Mobility and to Champion Great Neighborhoods.
