Social distancingSocial distancing is saving lives across Arlington and the world right now. But it’s a natural feeling to need a change of scenery or new ways to pass the time. So we’ve put together a list of ways to enjoy your hometown and the many services offered here.

Visit an Arlington Park

Arlington parks and trails remain open with a few minor changes. Shared amenities, including restrooms, are closed. But you’re still free to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine. Just make sure you’re leaving six feet of space between yourself and other visitors. Click here to find a park near you.

Enjoy the Bluebonnets

While you’re out enjoying nature, keep an eye out for the famous Texas bluebonnets. The flowers are blooming across The American Dream City and should be peaking in the next few weeks.

Read a Good Book

Arlington Public Library branches are closed, but the team’s great work continues online. Enjoy thousands of digital books and magazines along with audiobooks. The Library is putting technology to work for our younger residents. You’ll find digital storytimes on the Library’s social media pages including Facebook and Instagram.

Learn a Foreign Language

Whether you’re looking to learn a new language or polish existing skills, free online lessons are available through Mango Learning. You will need an Arlington Public Library card to access the site.

Play Backyard Bingo

You don’t have to travel far to enjoy being outside. Arlington Parks & Recreation created a backyard bingo game. Click here to print your card.

Spring Cleaning

For many of us, there’s no excuse to put off that to-do list. Make sure you’re recycling where you can and properly disposing of trash. Click here to learn more.

Make the Most Out of Netflix

Most children are Netflix experts. And while the streaming service is a top choice for entertainment, it’s also full of educational content. Click here for a list of recommendations from our Arlington Parks & Recreation staff.

However you choose to spend your time – please do it safely. That means avoiding social gatherings and keeping at least six feet of space between you and other people. And most importantly – if you’re feeling sick, stay home. Click here to learn more about ways to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
