Editor's note: This article was originally published May 13, 2020 and updated July 23, 2020 to include additional camp dates. River Legacy will now be offering camps Aug. 3-7, 2020 and Aug. 10-14, 2020.

River Legacy Nature Center will offer virtual summer camps this year as a response to the coronavirus pandemic. In an email message, the nonprofit organization said it was following necessary restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The program will allow campers between preschool and sixth grade to complete hands-on activities from their homes.

There will be week-long programs offered in June, July and August focused on wildlife, ecology and the environment. The curriculum will be tailored to the child’s age and will include at-home activities coupled with video lessons filmed at the Nature Center. The resource kits for each camp will be distributed via curbside pickup.
