Overdue rent bill

We understand many residents are struggling financially as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Some families have fallen behind on monthly rent payments, leaving outstanding bills piling up quickly.

The federal government has enacted an eviction moratorium, effective through Dec. 31, 2020. While the order allows families to stay in their homes, the rent is still due, and late fees and penalties can increase the amount due very rapidly. That leaves families extremely vulnerable to eviction at the beginning of 2021.

But help is available. Tarrant County’s rental assistance program, CARE 4 Tarrant, includes funding to cover past-due rent for residents directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Applications must be submitted by Dec. 9, 2020.

Assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis subject to review of eligibility. Tarrant County will make final determination of eligibility and the amount of assistance. All funds granted will be paid directly to the landlord. If you are not eligible for this program, you may be referred to another assistance program or partner organization.
