Operation Airdrop May 25, 2020

The Airpower Foundation is inviting the Arlington community to enjoy a patriotic thank you message to our community’s heroes on Monday that will be hard to miss.

Be sure to step outside around 4 p.m. Monday, May 25 to catch the foundation’s planned Operation Airdrop over Arlington: The American Dream City.

Mike Elliott, president of the All Veteran Group and a retired U.S. Army Golden Knight, will perform a parachute demonstration with his team over Arlington in the area of the new Globe Life Field. The team will parachute from 10,000 feet with thank you banners, military banners, and a 1,400-square-foot American flag in tow. Colored smoke will trace the sky as they parachute through a two-mile-wide heart drawn in the sky to symbolize the loving appreciation we all feel for our healthcare workers, first responders, and our fallen military heroes.

Rangers parking lots will be open to the public for people to watch the event from their vehicles.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the Airpower Foundation and their unwavering commitment to supporting our nation’s military, wounded service members and their families,” said Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams. “The sky dive event planned for Memorial Day will be a moving tribute to both our men and women who have died protecting our freedoms as Americans and to recognize the first responders and healthcare heroes working to defeat the coronavirus.”

The Airpower Foundation, formed in 1999, is a nationwide nonprofit dedicated to supporting the nation’s military, children who have lost a parent in the war, wounded service members and their families. Click here to visit the Airpower Foundation website to learn more.
