This school year, the Arlington Public Library offers a variety of afterschool events for youth and teens at the Northeast Branch Library. With several schools in walking distance, the Northeast Branch is frequently full of students in the afternoons. After a busy school day, teens can read, relax and work on their academics with resources and staff dedicated just for them.

Student Lab is a new event, offered for teens each week that Arlington ISD schools are in session. Student Lab is a space for teens ages 13-17 to study and access computers. School supplies are available and library staff are on hand to help with computers! Student Lab is open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Each student and their guardian are required to sign a behavior expectations form to participate and there is a limit of 20 students each day. Student Lab will be closed on Nov. 5 and Nov. 26 - 29.

Girls and young women are invited to become strong leaders during weekly Girls, Inc. meetings on Monday afternoons. Girls, Inc. of Tarrant County is a community non-profit organization that inspires all girls to be strong, smart and bold. With science and tech activities, personal development opportunities, and the chance to meet trailblazing women in the community, Girls, Inc. is a great activity for teen girls. Girls, Inc. meets every Monday that AISD schools are in session, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Teens can also try 3D printing at the Northeast Branch! Open 3D Printing meets in October, November and December. Using STEM carts donated by Mouser Electronics, teens can learn how a 3D printer works and try one themselves. Science activities will be available to use while print jobs are being completed. Click here to see the Open 3D Printing schedule.

Library staff look forward to another fun year supporting Arlington’s teens and youth in their education! Click here to learn more about teen events throughout the library.
