November is right around the corner, and the month is starting off with a tribute to veterans. Plus, here's your chance to do some fall cleaning (and help the environment) at the City of Arlington's Computer Roundup recycling event.
It's a to-do list you won't mind tackling.
✅ Honor America's Best
Head to Arlington's Veterans Park (3600 W. Arkansas Lane) on Monday, Nov. 11 for a Veterans Day commemoration. This is your chance to honor the men and women who fought for our freedom. Attendees are invited to a free barbecue lunch following the ceremony. Click the link above to learn more and reserve a meal.
✅ Learn about Day of the Dead
Join the Arlington Public Library Saturday, Nov. 2 for a day-long Día de los Muertos celebration. The party starts at 9 a.m. with a parade through City Center (between the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library and City Hall.) There will be craft projects throughout the day along with a costume contest and other entertainment. The days wraps up with a showing of "Coco" at 6 p.m. Click the link above for a full schedule.
✅ Celebrate a Texas tradition
"Mumentous: The upsizing of a Texas tradition" is now on display at the Arlington Museum of Art in Downtown Arlington. The exhibit chronicles the mum's rise from a small flower to a piece of Texas culture. You'll see amazing examples of creativity and hear heartwarming stories behind each mum. The exhibit runs through Nov. 24.
✅ Recycle your old electronics
The City of Arlington is hosting its annual Computer Roundup event Saturday, Nov. 19. Head to the UTA parking lot at Mitchell and Cooper Streets between 8 a.m. and noon. We'll recycle your old computers, VCRs, cell phones and more. Click the link for a full list of acceptable items.
