National Medal of Honor Museum

This Memorial Day celebrate the special weekend by remembering its true purpose: recognizing the service and sacrifice of military servicemembers by honoring the fallen.

This three-day weekend is focused on raising awareness and money to help build the National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, Texas with events at Texas Live! and Lone Star Park. The weekend’s activities include FUNdraising and entertainment with live thoroughbred racing at Lone Star Park, and live music at Texas Live!, the Texas Rangers Watch Party, and a special opportunity to participate in Carry The Load’s 10th Year of Honoring Our Heroes inaugural relay event in Arlington.

“Telling the stories of our nation’s bravest military heroes is critical if future generations of Americans are to understand the enormous sacrifice made by so many for our freedoms,” said National Medal of Honor Museum President and CEO James Connors. “Many Medal of Honor recipients made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country, and we’re honored to be surrounded by so many partners, community leaders and patriotic Americans who are eager to help us raise awareness and money as we work to build the National Medal of Honor Museum right here in Arlington.”

“In 2011, Carry The Load was born out of frustration for what felt like a nation had forgotten the meaning of Memorial Day,” says Stephen Holley, co-founder, president and CEO of Carry The Load and veteran U.S. Navy SEAL. “Today, I’m proud that Carry The Load is a part of this event for the National Medal of Honor Museum at Texas Live! to give its patrons a way to honor and remember our nation’s heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.”

“Texas veterans have always shared a special connection with our farmers and ranchers," said Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller. "Both are uncommonly tough, patriotic and devoted to a cause greater than themselves. As Texas Agriculture Commissioner, I am proud to join the events at Lone Star Park this Memorial Day to honor our veterans and support a great cause like the National Medal of Honor Museum. We must never forget the valor and sacrifice of the men and women who have given so much to protect our freedom and our American way of life.”

“Lone Star Park is honored to be associated with the National Medal of Honor Museum and looking forward to bringing awareness to such a great organization” said Kent Slabotsky, Vice President of Operations for Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie. “We look forward to honoring some real American heroes Memorial Day weekend and raising money for the museum.”

“We’re honored to be the destination for so many meaningful and exciting events in North Texas this Memorial Day,” said Jim Watry, Chief Operating Officer for Texas Live! “Being an active part of the community is at the heart of Texas Live!, so helping to build awareness and funding for the National Medal of Honor Museum is a true honor,” he said.
