The National Medal of Honor Museum today released a digital video that features Medal of Honor Recipient Lieutenant Michael Thornton honoring this year’s Memorial Day in solitude at their future site in Arlington.

On a day families and friends typically gather in remembrance of members of the U.S. Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service, the ongoing COVID-19 crisis will force many Americans to observe the holiday in isolation. Lieutenant Thornton offers that while separated, the nation can still mourn and give thanks as one.

The video features patriotic scenes from American life, ending with a salute to the fallen from Lieutenant Thornton at the future site of the National Medal of Honor Museum.

The Museum is being built in Arlington's Entertainment District and is expected to open in 2024.
