11th Annual Hiring Red, White & You Job Fair Set for Nov. 10 at Globe Life Field in Arlington

The 11th Annual Hiring Red, White & You! Statewide Job Fair is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 at Globe Life Field in Arlington. This statewide job fair connects transitioning service members, military spouses, National Guard, Reserve, veterans, their family members and the general public to employers looking to hire in our area.

This event is sponsored by Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County, The Texas Workforce Commission and the Texas Veterans Commission. Interact and Interview with over 150-plus employers, including the City of Arlington, with more than 5,000 job openings. Pre-register to avoid lines on the day of the event. Early Voting for the Nov. 8 Special Election Runs Oct. 24-Nov. 4, 2022

Early voting for the City of Arlington’s Nov. 8, 2022, Special Election runs through Friday, Nov. 4. Voters can catch a free ride to the polls on Trinity Metro, Arlington’s Via and other transit services during early voting from Oct. 24-Nov. 4 and on Election Day, Nov. 8. Voters have seven locations in Arlington in which to cast their ballot. Click here to find your voting location. In Arlington, voters can choose whether or not to amend the City’s Charter relative to City Council term lengths. Arlington voters can vote “for” or “against” amendments to Sections 4 and 9 of Article IV and Section 2 of Article V of the City Charter to lengthen City Council terms from two years to three years. 2023 Citizens Bond Committee Seeks Community Input Through Online Survey, Nov. 14 Public Meeting

The Citizens Bond Committee is hosting the second of two public meetings to gather input on the final recommendation of the Citizens’ Bond Committee, which includes capital improvement projects ranging from streets to new parks and recreation amenities for the City Council to consider in a potential bond package next May. The total recommendation for a four-year capital bond program is $213.3 million.

The second and final public meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, in the ReBrary Room of the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library, 100 S. Center St. The City has also released an online survey to review the final projects included in the Citizens’ Bond Committee recommendation, and collect citizen feedback prior to being considered by the City Council. Take the survey by Nov. 18 to provide your feedback if you can’t attend the meeting.

Leaf Recycling Begins Nov. 14, 2022

Starting, Nov. 14, 2022 through January 16, 2023 Arlington residents may bring bagged leaves to the following collection sites for free leaf recycling.

  • Arlington Landfill: 800 Mosier Valley Road
  •  UTA Baseball parking lot on Mitchell St., east of Fielder Road
  • S.J. Stovall Park: 2800 W. Sublett Road
  • Bowman Springs Park: 7003 W. Poly Webb Road
  • Veterans Park: Second parking lot/Spanish Trail entrance - 3600 W. Arkansas Lane
  • Randol Mill Park: 1901 W Randol Mill Road
  • Cravens Park – 400 Cravens Park Drive

The service is for Arlington residents only. If the dumpsters are full, please neatly stack the bags next to the dumpster.

Arlington Residents Invited to 15th Annual Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony Nov. 11, 2022

The 15th Annual Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony is set for 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at the Arlington Veterans Park Memorial at Veterans Park, 3600 W. Arkansas Lane. This year’s keynote speaker is SSGT. Gene Pugh, who was a member of the U.S. Army’s most elite and secretive units during the war in Vietnam.

The event is organized by the Arlington Great Southwest Rotary Club and the Arlington Veterans Park Foundation and is also co-sponsored by The Heroes of South Vietnam Memorial Foundation. Learn more.
