Celebrate 4th of July at Light Up Arlington Fireworks Show, 2022 Independence Day Parade

Celebrate Independence Day in Downtown Arlington with live music, kid-friendly activities, food trucks and a spectacular firework display on Sunday, July 3 followed by a red, white and blue, fun-filled parade on Monday, July 4. View the weekend schedule and tips for the events.

Festivities, which are free and open to the public, start at 6 p.m. July 3 at Parks and Recreation Department's annual Light Up Arlington. The celebration in Downtown Arlington includes some of the top musical acts in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, vendors, food trucks and plenty of kid-friendly fun. The fireworks display, which lasts about 20 minutes, is scheduled to start at 9:50 p.m. and will be set to music on 95.9 The Ranch FM. Fireworks will be shot from the roof of City Tower, which is located east of City Hall.

Head on back to Downtown on Monday morning for the beloved Arlington Independence Day Parade, which started in 1965 and is billed as the oldest, longest running event in the city. Be sure to arrive early for the parade, which kicks off at 9 a.m. The theme for this year's parade is “E Pluribus Unum - Out of Many, One,” which is a traditional United States motto adopted by Congress in 1782.

City of Arlington to Launch Online Reporting Tool July 1-4 to Help Residents Provide

This Fourth of July—let the pros light the sky. As the holiday weekend approaches, we are reminding our residents and visitors that it is illegal to use fireworks in the City of Arlington. People who are caught using fireworks illegally in the City of Arlington may face a fine up to $2,000.

In the days leading up to the holiday, the City of Arlington will again activate its fireworks reporting webpage,, that will allow residents to provide information about fireworks activity to the Arlington Fire Department’s 9-1-1 Dispatch Center. This reporting tool can be accessed through the red banner at the top of any City of Arlington webpage and also through the City’s free Ask Arlington app. Residents are asked to use the online reporting tool to report fireworks activity between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m. July 1-July 3 and between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. on July 4. To report illegal fireworks outside of this timeframe, residents should call the Arlington Fire Department’s non-emergency phone line at 817-274-4444.

2022 Independence Day Closings and Service Schedules in Arlington

Many City of Arlington municipal offices and facilities will be closed Sunday, July 3 and Monday, July 4, 2022, in observance of Independence Day. Residential and commercial garbage and recycling collection will not occur on Monday, July 4. Trash residential collection will resume on Thursday, July 7, and residential recycling will resume on Monday, July 11. Commercial collections resume on Tuesday, July 5. Regular office hours and service schedules for some facilities will resume at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 5. Learn more about what’s open and closed.

City Completes Voter-Approved Calender Road Rebuild

The Public Works Department has completed 18 months of construction work to transform Calender Road from Curry Road to Harris Drive from a two-lane county type asphalt road to a three-lane concrete road. In addition to rebuilding the roadway with 19,000 square yards of concrete for roadway and bike lanes, the project also brought the following improvements to the area:

  • Construction of roundabouts at the Curry and Kuykendall Road intersections
  • Installation of 4,600 square yards of sidewalks
  • Construction of 29 ADA compliant pedestrian ramps
  • Installation of 3,940 linear feet of water lines
  • Installation of 1,990 linear feet of sanitary sewer lines
  • Installation of 3,350 linear feet of stormwater infrastructure
  • Installation of 31 new streetlights
