Spend the dog days of summer with some adorable dogs. It's just one of the upcoming neighborhood events we think you'll enjoy. Plus, make a run for the pool.

It's a to-do list you won't mind tackling.

✅ 1. Spend time with shelter animals (and a good book)

Arlington Animal Services is hosting "Paws to Read" Monday, July 29 and Wednesday, July 31. Just head to the Animal Services Building (1000 S.E. Green Oaks Blvd.) at 8:45 a.m. Your child will have the chance to read to one of the animals. We'll even provide the books.

✅ 2. Register for the Back-to-School Kickoff

Now is the time to make sure your child has everything they'll need to succeed in the new school year. Arlington ISD is hosting its annual Back-to-School Kickoff Saturday, August 10. Sign up now for free school supplies, haircuts and checkups.

✅ 3.Run for the pool

What better way to cool off after a run? Arlington Parks & Recreation is hosting the Sprint & Splash 3K August 3. The course starts at Dottie Lynn Recreation Center and ends at the Woodland West Pool. The pool will be open only to race participants.
