Arlington City Council District 1 representative Helen Moise has been appointed to a one-year term on the 2021 National League of Cities’ (NLC) Community and Economic Development Committee.

This committee is responsible for developing policy positions and leading NLC’s advocacy on issues involving community and economic development, land use, recreation and parks, historic preservation, and international competitiveness. In addition, the Committee leads efforts in support of federal grant programs that support these activities, including the Community Development Block Grant program.

As a committee member, Moise will play a key role among a diverse group of local leaders in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocating on behalf of America’s cities and towns before Congress, with the administration and at home.

“It is important that Arlington have a voice in identifying emerging topics related to economic development, housing and land use in today’s post COVID world,” said Moise, who is also chair of the Arlington City Council’s Community and Neighborhood Development Committee.
