Traffic Alert

Traffic at the intersection of Mansfield Road and Southwest Green Oaks Boulevard in south Arlington will be impacted by necessary water utilities repairs starting at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24 through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27.

• Due to the excavation and repair work, all left-turn lanes on SW Green Oaks Boulevard will be closed at the intersection. Eastbound and westbound traffic on SW Green Oaks Boulevard will only be allowed to turn right onto Mansfield Road.

• In addition, traffic traveling north or south on Mansfield Road will be prevented from crossing the intersection at Green Oaks Boulevard. Instead, north/south drivers on Mansfield Road will only be able to turn right onto SW Green Oaks Boulevard.

• One of two left-hand turn lanes on northbound South Cooper Street at SW Green Oaks will also be closed during the repairs.

• All traffic lanes will be reopened before Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, Nov. 28). No closures related to the project are planned after Thanksgiving Day.

The replacement of a faulty water main valve in the intersection will require some water service interruptions, but any addresses where service will be interrupted will be notified at least 48 hours in advance. During the repairs, Arlington Water Utilities field operations crews will set up extensive temporary water routing in the area to limit water service interruptions. The department’s field operations division identified the early part of the Thanksgiving holiday week as the best time to complete the project and minimize negative impacts on surrounding neighborhoods, schools, churches and businesses.

Please drive carefully in the area and obey detour signs.
