EECU employees spread a little bit of sweet kindness throughout The American Dream City this week by delivering more than 2,300 wrapped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to Mission Arlington to help feed the hungry.

Employees made about 4,000 sandwiches total at EECU locations in Arlington and Fort Worth on Wednesday as part of National Volunteer Week, said Barbara Walker, EECU director of social responsibility and community involvement.

“We are doing this to help feed the most vulnerable in our communities,” Walker said.
EECU employees dropped off boxes and bags of prepared sandwiches to grateful Mission Arlington staff on Wednesday afternoon.

“This is a huge act of kindness for Mission Arlington and the thousands and thousand of people that we give food to every day,” said Tillie Burgin, the nonprofit’s executive director.

The City of Arlington, which launched a Kindness Initiative in 2017, applauds EECU for working to make The American Dream City a kinder place to live, work, play and learn.

People are encouraged to report acts of kindness that they perform, witness or were the recipient of through the City’s Ask Arlington mobile app, on the Kindness Initiative web page, or by posting on social media using #ArlingtonKindness and @CityofArlington.
