The City of Arlington is honored to be recognized for its data-driven management and reporting efforts with a Certificate of Achievement in Performance Management from the International City/County Management Association.

“Performance management is a bedrock principle of professional local government management,” ICMA Executive Director Marc A. Ott said. “By recognizing these leaders, ICMA hopes to encourage others to make a commitment to collect and analyze data, report it transparently, and use it to continuously engage their communities and improve their organizations.”

Certificates are based on established criteria and are awarded at three levels: Achievement, Distinction, and the highest level of recognition, Excellence.  Recipients at all levels collect and verify data to ensure reliability, train staff in performance measurement, and report data to the public through budgets, newsletters, and/or information provided to elected officials.

The ICMA certificate is among the latest ways the City of Arlington has been recognized for its policies and practices designed to improve residents’ lives. Earlier this year, Arlington became the first city in Texas to achieve Bloomberg Philanthropies’ What Works Cities certification, which is the national standard of excellence in city governance.  Arlington has also been named the best-run city in Texas by WalletHub for a second year in a row

Arlington is among 17 jurisdictions receiving the ICMA Certificate of Achievement, and one of 63 recognized overall.  ICMA will officially recognize The American Dream City and other recipients at its 105th Annual Conference in Tennessee in October.
