The Arlington Police Department has made an arrest in connection to the June 6, 2024 murder of 38-year-old Marquis Holliman who was shot and killed at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Cypress Club Drive.
Following a complex and thorough investigation, APD Homicide detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of 31-year-old Robert Kelly on one count of Murder. U.S. Marshals Service Task Force Officers located Mr. Kelly in the Shreveport, Louisiana area and took him into custody on November 7, 2024. He is currently being held in the Shreveport City Jail awaiting extradition to Texas.
Investigators believe on the night of the murder, Mr. Holliman, who lived at the apartment complex, approached a neighboring apartment where several people were gathered and began yelling at them. Witnesses reported that he got into a verbal argument with a woman who was there and pushed her, at which point a man confronted him. A short time later, several shots were fired. Officers responded to the scene and located Mr. Holliman lying unresponsive on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Detectives initially had few leads in the case, but later received multiple anonymous tips via Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County indicating that an individual called “Mike Mike” was the shooter. Through follow-up investigation, detectives determined Mike Mike is Mr. Kelly.
As the investigation continued, additional witnesses came forward placing Mr. Kelly at the crime scene, including one who told detectives they saw Mr. Kelly with a firearm in his waistband moments before the shooting.
Investigators also learned that Mr. Kelly regularly stayed at the apartment where the shooting occurred. When they searched the apartment, they located ammunition that was the same make and model as spent shell casings that were recovered from the crime scene the night of the shooting. Additionally, they found the ammunition near several personal items belonging to Mr. Kelly.
Detectives attempted to locate and speak with Mr. Kelly about the case, but learned he abruptly left Arlington not long after the shooting.
After consulting with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, the decision was made to proceed with charges against Mr. Kelly.
