Photos of Homicide Suspects

The Arlington Police Department has made two arrests in connection to the murder of 55-year-old Khudhair Hamdan, who was shot and killed on March 21, 2023 while taking two individuals for a test drive of a car he was helping to sell.

Following a thorough investigation, homicide detectives were able to identify the suspects as 18-year-old Luis Gutierrez and 19-year-old Cristian Saucedo -- and obtained arrest warrants for both teens on Capital Murder charges.

On April 7, 2023, members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force located Mr. Saucedo at his home in Dallas and took him into custody without incident. He was booked into the Arlington City Jail and has since been transferred to the Tarrant County Jail.

Mr. Gutierrez was already in custody for an unrelated case in Dallas and is currently being held at the Dallas County Jail.

“Mr. Hamdan was simply trying to help a relative sell a car – and now his family’s entire world has been turned upside down,” said Chief of Police Al Jones. “Violent offenders like these, who are willing to kill a man for a vehicle they abandoned a few minutes later, have no place on our streets. I’d like to thank our Homicide Unit for the dedication and effort they put into this investigation. I hope these arrests provide some sense of relief to Mr. Hamdan’s family and to the Arlington community.”

ORIGINAL RELEASE

On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to the 700 block of Port Richmond Way after residents reported that a man was lying unresponsive in the roadway.

When officers arrived on scene, they discovered the man had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased from his injuries. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has since identified him as 55-year-old Khudhair Hamdan.

Through the course of their investigation, detectives learned Mr. Hamdan was helping a family member sell a car via a social media app and had agreed to go for a test drive that evening with an alleged buyer who expressed interest in purchasing it.

Based on video evidence and witness statements, two young men arrived at Mr. Hamdan’s home to test drive the car – and the three of them left together in it. As they drove along Port Richmond Way, investigators believe one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot Mr. Hamdan, who then got out of the vehicle and collapsed. The suspects continued driving.

Officers found the vehicle abandoned behind a nearby shopping center at the intersection of Matlock Road and Sublett Road.

Detectives are currently working to identify the suspects. No arrests have been made.

Surveillance cameras captured the suspects walking away from the vehicle. Still images of both individuals are posted above.

Anyone who thinks they recognize the suspects or has any additional information about this case is urged to call Det. Simmons at (817) 459-5735. Tipsters can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at (817) 469-8477.

If you see these individuals, call 911 immediately and do not approach them. They should be considered armed and dangerous.

The Arlington Police Department strongly encourages community members who are buying / selling items via digital marketplaces -- particularly if they don’t know the people they are purchasing from / selling to  -- to make the exchanges in the designated safe zones at each of our four patrol stations.
