On Saturday, August 6, 2022, at approximately 11:43 p.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to an apartment complex in the 800 block of E. Sanford Street to investigate a reported shooting.

When they arrived, they found an 18-year-old male with an apparent gunshot wound lying on the floor inside one of the apartments. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 911 caller, who lives in the apartment, told officers he, the victim, and four others were hanging out at the location. He indicated one of the males who was there began handling a shotgun that went off, striking the victim.

At this time, several individuals have been detained for further questioning by detectives. Any criminal charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
