Homicide Investigation - Report #2019-01390483

The Arlington Police Department responded to a shooting call on Sunday, May 19, 2019 around 5:54 p.m. in the 5000 block of Nocona Lane in South Arlington. When officers arrived, they located a man in a backyard of a residence with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim, a 63-year old man, was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The deceased will be identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office once next of kin have been identified.

Investigators believe that there was a college graduation party happening at the residence with multiple family members. At some point during the party, a family member became involved in an altercation with the victim and shot him multiple times. The suspect, identified as Hector Salazar, a 44-year old man, fled the scene on foot and was located nearby and taken into custody without incident. Salazar will be charged with one count of Murder after being booked into the Arlington Jail.
