Just because the temperature is dropping doesn't mean you have to put your clubs away. Arlington Parks and Recreation has a full season of golf activities planned. And the best part? You can help a good cause while enjoying the game. Here are five ways to give back or enjoy Arlington Golf this holiday season.

1. Canned goods = golf discounts

Bring in three canned goods to any Arlington Golf facility now through November 26, 2019, and receive a 20 percent discount on your next round of golf (greens fee and cart.) Non-golfers can donate three canned goods and receive a 15 percent discount on non-sale merchandise or a 10 percent discount on food and non-alcoholic drinks at Ventana Grille. Donations benefit Mission Arlington.

2. Drive Away Hunger golf tournament

The Lake Arlington Drive Away Hunger Golf Tournament Benefiting Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex tournament is Friday, November 22 with a 12 p.m. shotgun at Lake Arlington golf course. This is a team scramble format. Pick your own team or let organizers pair you up with other players.

  • Entry Fee: $60.00 (Includes green fees/cart fees, as well as lunch and prizes.)
  • Entry Deadline: Monday, Nov. 18 at 5 p.m.
  • Entries can be made by phone to (817) 451-6101 or in person at Lake Arlington Golf Course.

3. Turkey Day Shotgun

Looking to get in a round of golf before the big Thanksgiving meal? Head to Tierra Verde on Nov. 28 for the Turkey Day Shotgun! Registration is $59.99 per player. Entry includes green fee, cart and two breakfast tacos with coffee and juice. Facility closes after completion of play. Call (817) 478-8500 or visit the Tierra Verde Golf Shop to register.

4. Grease for Greens

Save your used cooking oil from Thanksgiving to bring to Tierra Verde Golf Club on Dec. 7 from 8 a.m. until noon. The Grease for Greens event will recycle and transform used cooking oil into biodiesel for Tierra Verde Golf Club's lawnmower fuel.

5. Book your holiday party

Give back to your employees, friends and family by hosting your holiday party at Ventana Grille. Ventana Grille has golf course views, delectable catering options and customer-focused staff to make a lasting impression on your guests. From a quick holiday lunch for your office to a formal holiday party, staff can customize a package for any budget. Call Events Coordinator Adena Wallace at 817-548-5042 for more information.
