The City of Arlington’s Public Works and Transportation Department is seeking volunteers for the new Floodplain Program for Public Information Committee. This committee requires six to eight citizen volunteers that are interested in communicating the importance of flood hazards, safety and preparedness to the City of Arlington.

As a volunteer from our residential and business community, you will help make Arlington safer with increased flood preparation.

The Floodplain Program for Public Information Committee will evaluate the City’s current flood outreach initiatives and identify new strategies to develop a public information plan.  This public information plan will help inform property owners, renters and businesses about flood insurance coverage, flood preparedness and flood safety. The outreach initiatives developed by this committee will also help to reduce flood damage to existing structures throughout the City.

The committee will meet twice a month until the public information plan is complete and bi-annually to review implementation and develop an annual report.  The City plans to establish the committee during the month of June and present the proposed public information plan to Arlington City Council by Fall 2019.
