The Arlington Police Department is investigating a crash involving a Dodge Charger and a motorcycle.
The crash occurred at the intersection of South Watson Road and Webb Lynn Road. Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:17 p.m. on Aug. 23, 2024.
The driver of the Dodge Charger was traveling eastbound on Webb Lynn Road when he ran a red light and struck a motorcyclist. The driver fled the scene but was quickly located nearby and arrested. The motorcyclist, 43-year-old Julie Maldonado, was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Investigators believe the suspect, 22-year-old Kenneth Polk, was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Witnesses described his vehicle fleeing an unrelated hit-and-run incident involving a mailbox at a nearby residence.
We have since been notified that the motorcyclist has died as a result of her injuries. The charges have been upgraded to intoxication manslaughter and collision involving death.
The Arlington Police Department reminds everyone that driving under the influence is never worth it. The consequences can be devastating and irreversible. If you plan to drink, plan ahead.
