ORIGINAL RELEASE

On Saturday, February 4, 2023, at approximately 6:27 p.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to the 4000 block of S. Center Street to investigate a three-vehicle wreck.

By the time officers arrived on scene, bystanders had pulled two young men out of a 2021 Ford Mustang that was involved in the crash and had caught fire. They were both transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The passenger of the Mustang, a 20-year-old male, was later pronounced deceased from his injuries by medical staff. The driver of the Mustang, an 18-year-old male, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Investigators determined the two men were initially traveling northbound along S. Center Street. They believe the driver of the Mustang lost control of the vehicle as he was attempting to switch lanes, crossed over the center median, and went into the southbound lanes, colliding with a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer.

The drivers of the Silverado and Lancer were not seriously injured.

Investigators have not ruled out speed as a factor in the crash.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
