The Arlington Police Department responded to a pedestrian injured in the roadway in the 900 block of E. Timberview Lane at 4:28 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2021.

When officers arrived, they located an 80-year old man in the street who was pronounced deceased at the scene. A witness driving near the location saw the man in the roadway and called police. Injuries appear consistent with the man being struck by an unknown vehicle.

The man’s wife, who was home at the time, reported that her husband walked outside to check the mail and did not return. When she looked out the window about 10-15 minutes later, she noticed emergency responders on scene a few houses down from their residence.

Detectives have not ruled out that the man was struck near his mailbox and possibly drug by a vehicle down the road.

At this time, investigators do not have a lot of information with regards to this case. The department is asking neighbors to check their home surveillance systems for possible video footage from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. around the crash area including S. Collins Street and E. Timberview Lane.

Texas law requires an operator to stop and render aid during crashes that cause injuries or death.
