Mark your calendar for these upcoming May events with Arlington Parks and Recreation! This month is filled with fun activities for a variety of ages and interests.

Mother’s Day Celebration – Saturday, May 1 

Come celebrate mom at East Library and Recreation Center’s Mother’s Day Celebration on Saturday, May 1! Beginning at 11 AM, join us at East to paint a special succulent pot while enjoying snacks and making some sweet memories. This all-ages event costs $5 for each gift you’d like to create.

Foam Slime – Saturday, May 15 

Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own slime using at-home ingredients? You can do just that at The Beacon Recreation Center’s Foam Slime class on Saturday, May 15, starting at 9:30 AM. This popular craft is a great way to take part in tactile play, which engages the senses and encourages cognitive development. This event is for kids ages 5-12 and costs $5 per child.

Meet-Up With Milly – Tuesday, May 25

Calling all seniors! You are invited to come meet up and chat with Milly Gomez, the new Senior Programmer at East Library and Recreation Center, and enjoy tea time on Tuesday, May 25. We will kick off summer programs with games, giveaways, and a light meal to-go at this free event!

Memorial Day Pool and Splash Pad Openings – Monday, May 31

Randol Mill Family Aquatic Center and Bad Konigshofen Family Aquatic Center will be kicking off summer by opening on Memorial Day weekend! Both centers will be open 12-7 PM on Saturday, and 12–6 PM on Sunday and Memorial Day. Splash pads will also open daily beginning on Memorial Day weekend. Free splash pads are located at California Lane Park, Brantley Hinshaw Park, and Don Misenhimer Park. You can also enjoy the newest splash pad located at The Beacon Recreation Center with a day pass for $8.

Rock Climbing Mini Camp – Monday, May 31 – Friday, June 4

Elzie Odom Athletic Center will host a rock climbing mini camp for youth ages 5-12 that are interested in learning basic rock climbing techniques in a safe and fun environment. This activity is a great way to build self-esteem and achieve physical fitness for kids at all levels. The camp will take place on weekdays from 1-4 PM.
