City Charter Amendment Special Election

Early voting for the City of Arlington’s Nov. 8, 2022, Special Election begins Monday, Oct. 24 and runs through Friday, Nov. 4

In Arlington, voters can choose whether or not to amend the City’s Charter relative to City Council term lengths.

The City Council approved an ordinance in August to hold the special election, which will allow Arlington voters to vote “for” or “against” amendments to Sections 4 and 9 of Article IV and Section 2 of Article V of the City Charter to lengthen City Council terms from two years to three years. Early Voting Dates and Times

  • Monday, Oct. 24 through Friday, Oct. 28,: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 29: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 30: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Monday, Oct. 31 through Friday, Nov. 4: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Early Voting Locations

 In all, 50 early voting locations are available throughout Tarrant County. Voters have seven locations in Arlington in which to cast their ballot:

  •  Bob Duncan Center, 2800 S. Center St., 76014
  •  Elzie Odom Athletic Center, 1601 NE Green Oaks Blvd., 76006
  •  Center for Community Service, Junior League of Arlington, 4002 W. Pioneer Pkwy, 76013
  •  City of Arlington Water Utilities South Service Center, 1100 SW Green Oaks Blvd., 76017
  • Tarrant County Sub-Courthouse in Arlington, 700 E. Abram St., 76010
  • Tarrant County College Southeast Campus, EMB-C Portable Building, 2100 Southeast Parkway, 76018
  • University of Texas at Arlington (Maverick Activities Center), 500 W. Nedderman Dr., 76019

Election Day Polling Locations

If you are voting between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov, 8, you can vote at any open polling place in Tarrant County. To find the closest polling location to you, please use the online Tarrant County Voter Lookup Tool.

Catch a Ride to the Polls

Throughout early voting and on Tuesday, Nov. 8, Tarrant County voters can catch a free ride to the polls on Arlington’s Via and Handitran public transportation other local transit services.

Riders can show their voter registration card or current Texas ID and ride for free during early voting from Oct. 24-Nov. 4 and on Election Day, Nov. 8. To use Via’s on-demand service in Arlington, riders simply download Via’s app and enter the address of a Vote Center within Via’s service area or call 817-459-6777 to schedule a ride by phone. USE the promo code ARNVOTE22F.

Those who qualify and want to ride to vote on Handitran should call the provider at least 48 hours ahead of the trip to schedule their free ride to any of the voting locations.
