Renowned canine artist Ducky will be at the West Main Arts Festival on Saturday, May 8, 2021, between noon and 4 p.m. in a fundraiser to help his friends at Arlington Animal Services (AAS) get a new x-ray machine, while teaching the importance of spreading kindness and respect for humans and animals through his anti-bullying program.

Ducky, an Animal Services alumni, was rescued and adopted by Kristie Miller of Respect A Bull, Inc., and thanks to Miller, is now living his best life. Miller is especially passionate about helping in the shelter’s effort to get a new x-ray machine. Ducky came to the shelter as a stray with noticeable malformations and issues with his legs, and without x-rays the shelter was unable to begin a treatment plan. A new x-ray machine is essential to assist clinic staff in helping animals like Ducky, and any others with injuries brought to the shelter.

Animal Services adoptable pets have been busy creating a gallery of artwork to showcase at the festival event. Donations received for their art will go towards the purchase of the x-ray machine for Animal Services.

Non-toxic paint colors were added to a canvas, then covered completely in plastic wrap, and topped with peanut butter. You guess the rest! The shelter animals thoroughly enjoyed this artistic adventure!

A huge boost to this fundraising effort is a generous grant award of $15,000 received from Banfield Foundation.  The shelter is about half-way to its funding goal.

Please stop by to see the gallery to meet Ducky in person, and see the fun artwork created by adoptable animals in search of their fur-ever homes. You may not be able to resist a unique painting with a fun story and support this important cause.

Ducky is following in the paw prints of his late friend Turtle (also known as Pitcasso) sharing his moving message with schools, scout troops, churches and more about the importance of kindness and not bullying. Click here to learn more about Ducky’s story.
