The 2020 Water Quality Report from Arlington Water Utilities is now available, with facts and figures about The American Dream City’s tap water. The document, also known as a Consumer Confidence Report, comes out annually to coincide with the nationwide recognition of Drinking Water Week (May 2-8).

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality also requires that a copy of the report be made available to all residents online at ArlingtonTX.gov/waterccr. Results of water testing for regulated substances, such as lead and copper, and some unregulated compounds can be found in the report. Residents also find more information there, including:

  •  Arlington Water Utilities currently meets all safety guidelines set by state and federal regulations.
  •  The water department’s two treatment plants produced a total of 18,957,966,858 gallons of tap water in 2020.
  •  Arlington Water Utilities tests drinking water throughout the treatment process and at locations all over the city. In 2020, the department’s laboratory analyzed 7,274 samples and performed 16,522 tests.
  •  Arlington Water Utilities’ 11 lab staff members have a combined 152 years of combined experience and a variety of degrees and TCEQ-issued licenses.

A Spanish version of the report will be available by June 1 at ArlingtonTX.gov/waterccre. For questions about the report or to obtain a printed copy, call the Arlington Water Utilities laboratory at 817-575-8984.

During Drinking Water Week, water utilities, water organizations, government entities, environmental advocates, schools and others throughout North America and beyond will encourage consumers to learn more about the importance of water and water infrastructure.
