Dream Builders is a show on MyArlingtonTV that highlights the ways our community is helping kids dream big, nurture their creativity, polish their skills and develop the tools they need to achieve their American Dream as young adults.

The latest Dream Builders episode features Arlington Girl Scouts completing their Gold Award project with a tribute to some amazing women.

The four Girl Scouts were inspired by Rosie the Riveter — a cultural icon representing women working in the defense industry during World War II.

Together the Scouts planted a rose garden and created a one-of-a-kind mural to the Rosies of the world, with the message "We can do it!"

"The women of World War II, they really have that can-do attitude, which is something we really want to encourage today," said Girl Scout and Arlington High School student Sarah Teel.

Artist Amy Stephens helped create the mural, which includes two African-American riveters. Girl Scout and Seguin High School student Rachel Hollings helped with the painting.

"We need to show more appreciation to African-Americans," Hollings said.  "It inspired me that women can do anything."

The rose garden is located at the Upstairs Gallery at 1038 West Abram Street. The mural is on the Precision Press building at 900 West Main Street. Click here to learn more about the project.
