On Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at approximately 7:31 a.m., the Arlington Police Department was notified that a train traveling westbound through Downtown Arlington struck a pedestrian who was walking on the tracks near the 300 block of W. Front Street.

It’s unclear why the pedestrian, an adult male, was on the tracks. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

There were no reports of any additional injuries. The train did not derail.

Multiple railroad crossings in Downtown Arlington were closed for approximately two hours while officers investigated and crews worked to clear the scene. All impacted crossings have since reopened to traffic.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the man’s name once he has been positively identified and next of kin have been notified.

The Arlington Police Department reminds the public that it is extremely dangerous to walk on or near railroad tracks – and similar to motorists, pedestrians should only attempt to cross tracks at designated railroad crossings where signals will alert them whether it is safe to proceed.
