Data in Action Graphic on Via Rideshare

Arlington’s partnership with Via rideshare service continues to grow, helping the City achieve its priority to Enhance Regional Mobility and better connect residents to jobs, cultural and educational opportunities, shopping and other everyday needs.

New numbers presented to Arlington City Council on Tuesday show weekday ridership hit an all-time high on April 4, 2019, with 756 rides. The on-demand service’s busiest Saturday to-date came a few days earlier on March 30.

For just $3 per person per trip, riders can access any destination within the 26-square-mile service area. This area includes Downtown, UT Arlington, the Entertainment District, Parks Mall, the Arlington Highlands Shopping Center and other key destinations. A ViaPass is also available for $15 per week, which allows customers up to four rides a day.

“About 76 percent of our rides are repeat riders,” said Alicia Winkelblech, Strategic Initiatives senior officer. Data also shows the average ride rating is 4.85 out of 5.

Rides are primarily booked through the Via app, but residents and visitor who don’t have a smartphone or need to pay in cash can also request a ride by calling 817-784-7382.

The City continues to Put Technology to Work for its citizens beyond just the Via app. Residents can now ask their Alexa-enabled devices for more information on Via through the City’s partnership with Amazon. Click here to learn more about downloading the “City of Arlington, Texas” skills.
