COVID-19 Vaccine Update

With 8,000 additional Moderna COVID-19 doses arriving today, the Arlington Fire Department will continue first dose vaccinations this week and will begin administering second dose vaccinations next Monday.

The City’s COVID-19 mass vaccination site at Esports Stadium Arlington + Expo Center, 1200 Ballpark Way, is scheduled to be open between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday for those who have confirmed appointment times from Tarrant County Public Health. The Fire Department expects to administer 5,000 total first dose vaccines over the two-day period this week.

Then on Monday, Jan. 25, the Fire Department will begin administering 3,000 second dose COVID-19 vaccination doses to first responders and individuals who received their vaccine at the City’s site between Dec. 29 and Dec. 31. The department will begin reaching out by email and/or text message directly to those 3,000 individuals with follow-up vaccination information.

For efficiency, the Fire Department will administer second dose vaccinations on different dates than first dose vaccines.
Individuals who receive confirmation of a second dose appointment for Jan. 25 are asked to:

1. Bring their vaccine card given at the time of the first dose

2. Arrive within their appointment time frame

Additionally, individuals who received the first dose vaccines at the Arlington site on Jan. 5 or later will be contacted by the Arlington Fire Department with information on when to return to the Esports Stadium Arlington + Expo Center. The Fire Department will schedule second dose vaccination dates as vaccine allotments are provided by the state.

The City of Arlington, working in cooperation with Tarrant County Public Health, is continually working to make the public vaccination process run as efficiently as possible over the next several weeks.

To receive the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, people must register online through the Tarrant County Public Health website and verify that they meet the current state priority vaccine eligibility requirements. The COVID-19 vaccine is not expected to be available to the general public until spring, according to DSHS. If you are not registered please do so!!
