City of Arlington Announces Closure of Select Parks and Recreation Facilities Due to COVID-19 Prevention Measures

Arlington Parks and Recreation announced select facilities will be closed to the public effective Monday, March 16, and will remain closed through at least March 31, 2020

After an extensive review of all operations and in accordance with recommendations provided by the City of Arlington Office of Emergency Management, the CDC, and other local health agencies, the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department announced today that the following facilities and programs will be CLOSED to the public through at least April 30, 2020:

  • All parks playgrounds
  • All parks workout stations 
  • Bob Duncan Center 
  • Cliff Nelson Recreation Center
  • Dottie Lynn Recreation Center
  • Elzie Odom Athletic Center
  • Meadowbrook Recreation Center
  • Eunice Activity Center
  • Hugh Smith Recreation Center & Indoor Pool
  • Lake House Events Center
  • Senior Recreation Center New York
  • Arlington Tennis Center (closed on March 19)
  • All youth and adult sports leagues
  • All pavilion rentals 
  • All athletic field rentals
  • All park restrooms & water fountains
  • All APRD special events

Ventana Grille, located at Tierra Verde Golf Club, closed its dining room and bar effective Wednesday, March 18, to comply with the City of Arlington's modified coronavirus disaster declaration. The restaurant will offer a limited menu for to-go orders, which can be placed by calling 817-548-5047 or at the golfer's window adjacent to the 10th tee.

City staff will be contacting individuals that have registered for a program, or reserved a special events space, that are impacted by this closure to discuss alternative arrangements.

At this time, all City golf courses, Lake Arlington operations, parks and trails will maintain normal operating hours.

This is an ongoing effort to be proactive in protecting the health and safety of our citizens and visitors. Arlington Parks and Recreation wants to thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we continue to navigate through the rapidly changing circumstances surrounding COVID-19.
