Public Works and Transportation uses bucket trucks, like this one, to repair or replace street lights and install traffic signals or overhead street signs.

The Arlington City Council recently approved funding for a variety of replacement fleet vehicles used by city personnel as they go about their daily duties to provide critical services to residents, businesses and visitors and to enhance the quality of life across The American Dream City.

All vehicles being purchased will replace existing vehicles that have exceeded their useful service life.

These investments include:
a new bucket truck for Public Works and Transportation Department that will help staff repair and replace city streetlights and install traffic signals or overhead street signs.
two trucks that have utility beds with cranes needed by Public Works and Transportation to install street signs
a KOMATSU loader used by Public Works and Transportation to load sand, concrete, dirt and other materials at job sites.
Three trucks with built-in animal cages that are temperature controlled so that Arlington Animal Services can transport dogs, cats and other creatures to the animal shelter safely and comfortably.
