Lonestar Emmy and NATOA Award

The City of Arlington’s FY2022 Lego Brick Budget Video has won four more prestigious awards. The Office of Communication was honored to receive an Emmy in the Political/Government – Short/Long Form category at the 2022 Lone Star Emmy Awards in early November. The video also received two first place awards in both Storytelling and Public Education from the Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (TATOA), and received first place, the Award of Excellence for Public Education Video Programming from the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA).

The Lone Star Emmy’s are part of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The awards represent the most experienced and talented television professionals from all disciplines of the industry. The City of Arlington was the only municipal government organization to receive a Lonestar Emmy in 2022, and this is Arlington’s second Lonestar Emmy Award.

“These awards speak to the creative and fun ways, cities can help educate their residents,” said Jay Warren, Director of Communication and Legislative Affairs. “It’s an honor to be recognized by numerous organizations, not just in Texas but nationally for our team’s work to communicate with those that call The American Dream City home.”

NATOA’s Government Programming Awards are the annual awards that recognize excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies. This was the city’s first time Government Programming Award from NATOA.

TATOA, the Texas chapter of NATOA, is a professional organization of individuals and organizations serving citizens in the development, regulation, and administration of cable television and other telecommunications systems. In 2022, they had nearly 300 entries in their Government Programming Awards. In addition to the two first place awards for the FY2022 Lego Brick Budget Video, the City of Arlington also received a third-place award in the Magazine Format Series category for the Explore Arlington series and received an Honorable Mention for Overall Excellence.

The City's FY2022 Lego Brick Budget Video has now received 11 awards, and the video has received nearly 1.1 million views on Arlington’s YouTube channel.
