Neighborhood Matching Grant Projects Example of How City Working to Champion Great Neighborhoods
Champion Great Neighborhoods
The Arlington City Council approved $77,660 in new Neighborhood Matching Grants for four projects across the city, including:
- La Frontera Homeowners Association, Inc. - $20,060 for La Frontera playground improvement
- Inniswood Owners Association, Inc. - $17,480 for California Lane fence replacement and landscaping
- Clubview Addition (with the Arlington Sculpture Garden Foundation) - $25,000 for Meadowbrook Park Sculpture Garden addition
- Cantor Park Condominiums Homeowners Association, Inc. - $15,120 for landscaping improvements
The Neighborhood Matching Grant program was developed in 2007 to foster civic pride, enhance neighborhoods and encourage collaboration between residents and City government. For a project to be considered, it must be submitted by neighbors, serve a public purpose, have a detailed timeline, and meet all City codes. Each neighborhood must also contribute 20% grant match towards the project through cash, in-kind donations and/or volunteer hours.
You can read more about the approved Neighborhood Matching Grant projects and the new Fire Station 1 that opened in Downtown Arlington, in the latest edition of the Champion Great Neighborhoods newsletter.
